About me and my therapy practice
In today's society we are constantly juggling and walking on a tightrope balancing the pressures of work and trying to perform to exceed expectations. At home we manage our relationships and hope they are fulfilling, we are challenged by time and giving each thing its full attention while juggling everything else life throws at us. Occasionally life throws more unexpected challenges and we become overwhelmed and out of sorts. Maybe you struggle to name what's wrong but whatever it is, it's not you.
I work with clients giving them the opportunity to explore their issues in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I specialise in short term focused sessions in anxiety and depression and I also do long term work with a wide range of issues.
Taking the first step in seeking help is definitely the hardest. Let me help you with your journey to a better wellbeing. You can contact me via text message or email. From there we can arrange a free telephone consultation lasting around 20-30 minutes. We will briefly discuss your presenting issue and make arrangements for a face to face therapy session.
My first session
The first session involves me getting to know you. Together we will explore your early history and your experiences here and now. Working collaboratively we will discuss what has brought you to counselling and what issues you have been struggling with. The issues you are struggling with can be long standing or ones that have come up recently that have left you overwhelmed and stressed. Working together is key to self-discovery. I hope to bring about self-awareness and psycho education, not psychobabble but a real and understanding.
I offer therapy sessions on a long and short term basis. Short term can be anything from 8-16 sessions. When we contract for short term we would choose a focus for example looking at a relationship break down. By focusing the sessions we make good use of the time and it provides the framework to work on specific areas. Working long term is very much like short term work as we still have a focus but it is reviewed regularly to see what your aims are for therapy working on anger or your depression homing in on specific areas such as a relationship or work place stress.
COVID-19 has indeed halted any face to face consultations for the time being but I have moved the practice to online sessions using Skype or Zoom.
