About me and my therapy practice

I am qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with additional training in relationship counselling, supporting young people, bereavement counselling, trauma and recovery from abuse. I also offer EMDR therapy. In 2013 I began working as a Clinical Supervisor and I am formally qualified for this work. With over 40 years experience in management and consultancy, I have a range of experience that informs my approach to (non-directive) supervision. I have experience of working within the NHS, with Social Services and Education, as well as with armed forces and emergency services personnel. More details (including fee rates) can be found on my web page.

About me and my therapy practice

I have been counselling in various roles since the 1970s, setting up in private practice in 2009. I am qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with additional training in relationship counselling, supporting young people, bereavement counselling, trauma, and recovery from abuse. I recently trained in delivering EMDR therapy. In 2013 I qualified as a Clinical Supervisor.

With over 30 years experience in management and consultancy, I can offer additional insight for clients who are experiencing work-related difficulties, or who may simply benefit from the opportunity to reflect on career issues, in confidence. I also have experience of working with armed forces and emergency services personnel. More details (including fee rates) can be found on my web page.

My work is essentially person-centred and integrative. I use methods which are most appropriate for each individual client, with my client's needs and priorities at the focus of the work.

My first session

The first session is generally free of charge. The effectiveness of counselling work depends significantly on the relationship between therapist and client; this first session provides a new client with an opportunity to assess whether I am the right Counsellor, without obligation. Details such as confidentiality and the reasons for coming to counselling are usually covered. Sometimes however, a new client will simply need to unload what is most bothering them first. That's OK!
