About me and my therapy practice

I am Dominic, welcome to my page. I am a qualified Integrative therapist. That means I use a range of therapies tailored to my clients.

I often find that people have disconnected from their true selves. Part of the work can be about rebuilding that relationship.

Are you blocked by your past? Are you experiencing loss? Do you repeat harmful behaviour?

Clients heal by working through the blocks that lead to an unsatisfactory life. This helps them find the part of them that leads to happiness and peace of mind; the true self.

I work with clients on a range of issues:

anxiety

stress

trauma

co-dependency

addiction

low self-esteem

relationship issues

depression and dual diagnosis (addictions plus mental health issues).

I have worked for the NHS and more in private practice.

I use a combination of theoretical approaches tailor made to the client. The psychodynamic which looks to the past. It gives clients useful insight into their current behaviours. Often, behaviors that were adaptive in childhood become limiting and destructive in adulthood. An example is people pleasing.

Also, the person-centred approach uses humanistic skills. It involves seeing the client as their own expert. It also involves using deep empathy and other skills to be present for the client in the here and now.

Many clients find their mind disturbing. The mind will not stop, even when they go on holiday, the mind is always with them.

My work often helps people start to leave their 'story'. They then connect with themselves and reality. Being present can bring relief, peace, and energy.

To that extent, the 'work' is about learning to sit with and manage emotions. It is about resting and releasing, not holding in.  A true break from the endless dialogue of the mind.  This can be very peaceful and restorative though it does take practice.

I also use CBT where it applies. It can help with wrong core beliefs.

Practice description

I work from a private practice in Clapham South.  The first few sessions tend to be a bit like getting the pieces of the jigsaw down onto the table.

From there we work together to see whats happening and whats working for you and what isn't.
