About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified and BACP registered Transpersonal and Integrative Psychotherapist who works somatically - with the body, the autonomic nervous system and the subtle energy body. This approach can offer profound healing, and is particularly helpful for clients who have experienced some form of trauma, as it helps to gently unwind traumatic charge from the body.
If you have experienced something very upsetting or traumatic, your mind-body-spirit might still be reeling in the aftermath. You may still find yourself ‘switched on’ to danger or emotional hurt, long after the threat has passed. The fight/flight/freeze response is something that we share with all other animals, but somehow, we humans have forgotten how to allow our systems to recover and rebalance in the way that animals do once a threat has passed. When highly charged emotions and fight/flight energies are held in our bodies for over time, we begin to experience all sorts of debilitating symptoms: from anxiety or depression, to insomnia, sudden bursts of rage, self-hatred, comfort eating, self-harming, self-medicating, or relating to others in ways that we might later regret.
Thankfully we are also capable of profound healing. Given the right environment of safety and support, we can learn to gently unwind the traumatic charge from our systems. Through this healing process, we can grow in confidence, joy, wisdom and insight, and become more fully aligned with the light of or our own unique inner being.
I offer face-to-face sessions in Totnes, as well as online sessions and sessions walking in nature.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20-minute online consultation, where we can get a feel for one-another, and I can answer any questions that you might have about the therapy I provide. If you decide to continue working with me I will send you a consultation form to bring along to your first session, and we'll take it from there.
It's very important that you feel safe and comfortable with me and in the therapy space, and that you feel able to share any concerns that come up for you. I will really take the time to get to know you and your needs, and to build this crucial foundation of safety and support from which the healing work can begin.
