About me and my therapy practice
I work in what is called an integrative way which meals I utilise different tools and techniques to tailor the counselling session to what you want/need and a way that will best help you.
Primarily I utilise something called Person- Centred counselling . What this means is that I will not be giving you advice and direction, nor will I judge you. I strongly believe you know what works best for you so I will work with you, at your pace, with acceptance, to look at the thoughts/feelings/behaviours/issues you want to explore, in a way that you feel comfortable.
Along side this I also use some solution focused brief therapy - which is aimed at helping you with your issues in as fewer sessions as possible by focusing on solutions rather than the problem itself, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - which helps you to look at unhelpful thoughts/behaviours you may have and work on altering them, Neuro Linguistic Programming - which helps individuals to learn new techniques to work on and deal with difficult situations/thoughts/issues - and Compassion Focused Therapy - which looks at building care and compassion for oneself and others and using this to understand thoughts and feelings.
There are times in life when we all need an impartial, non-judgemental person to talk to, to have breathing space to evaluate where you are at and where/who you want to be.
Maybe that time is now for you because your anxious thoughts are out of control, maybe you feel like the stress is just too much or that you are not good enough for your work, family or friends, maybe things are just feeling like too much right now, everything is just too big and heavy to carry, or maybe you are just plain tired of thinking and living the way you are.
Whatever is going on for you right now counselling can give you space and time, focused on you, a listening and supportive ear, somewhere you can talk through whatever you are going through without fear of being judged or of upsetting someone. A space where you can sort through the tangle in your head/life, take control of your thoughts , decide what is important to you, understand what you want/need (and be able to get this), feel more confident in you and the decisions you make and break free from old habits. I want to help you do this, I want to give you the space and time you deserve.
I am an experienced registered counsellor offering individual and couples/relationship counselling in Chorley, Adlington and surrounding areas.
It is difficult to find someone you’re able to open up to and it is hard to know if I’m right for you from reading a few words online which is why I offer a free 30 minute chat, face to face or over the phone, so you feel at ease when choosing me to support you during this difficult time in your life.

I charge £40 per session (£50 for couples) which can be paid by card, bank transfer or cash.
My first session
In the first session we will discuss what I call the counselling agreement - this sets out the boundaries of how we will work together, the time frame, frequency of sessions, confidentiality etc. We will then talk about what has brought you into counselling, the things you want to work on and the things you want to achieve as well as what has and hasn't worked for you in the past. You will also be able to ask me any questions you have about counselling.
