About me and my therapy practice

I'm a person-centred counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also trained to offer counselling online.

I believe deeply in the power of a trusting and confidential relationship, where you feel able to be yourself and say whatever you need to say. I therefore aim to offer an environment where you feel heard, accepted, safe, understood and supported. Sessions are therefore guided by you and what you want to talk about. Together, we can work to find a way forward in the ways that feel right for you.

My own experiences of loss powerfully shape the way I work and I am naturally drawn to working with the pain and grief that life can sometimes bring. I have worked with those who have felt overwhelmed, lost, fearful, wearied, angered or deeply saddened, often in relation to painful or traumatic life experiences, such as bereavements or other life events that have had a lasting impact.

Practice description

I have a Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have worked with various charitable organisations including completing extra training in bereavement with Cruse Bereavement Care and offered counselling with two local Mind counselling services.

Here I have worked with various issues such as loss, grief and bereavement, trauma and abuse, relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression.

I have also offered counselling within a secondary school working with young people.

Prior to my counselling training I worked with rurally isolated older adults. Here, I witnessed the profound loneliness and many challenges that can be experienced as a part of the ageing process. One client in particular stays with me and she is a big part of the reason for my becoming a counsellor.

My first session

Typically, a session will last one hour and is charged at £45. I also offer a limited number of concessions. Please ask if this applies to you.

If you’d like to know more, please feel free to get in touch via email in the first instance or you may prefer to leave a voice mail. I offer a free initial phone call to discuss your needs and to give you the chance to ask any questions about the way I work. If you feel you'd like to go ahead with counselling, I will send you clear and easy to follow details about what to do next (depending on whether you choose to work via webcam or telephone).

I look forward to hearing from you.
