About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative counsellor and I see clients for a number of concerns, these include:-

Workplace stress, Work-Life balance issues, Relationship problems, Lack of Self esteem and confidence, grief and distress brought on by the loss of a person, your pet or health.

I have extra expertise in Anxiety and Panic Attacks and low Self Esteem. In addition, I also specialise in working with grief that involves Ambiguous Loss (where a person is still living but lost to you in some way) and emotional neglect during childhood.

Lots of situations can cause us to feel anxious, but sometimes it can feel as if it has overtaken our lives, and we may need extra help to cope. There is nothing wrong in seeking help for this.

The stress response is there to protect you but sometimes it is activated without any real physical danger being present and causes us to suffer anxiety symptoms that can be unpleasant.

I can help you to understand why you may be anxious, what is happening to you during a panic attack, and, most importantly, what you can do to reduce them.

When we lose something, a person, pet, or a relationship, we can be left with many different feelings, not just sadness. This can be especially difficult if we could not physically say goodbye, we were estranged at the time, or we had already 'lost' the person before they died eg through dementia. Talking about your loss can be the first step to understanding how you feel, so you can begin to process your feelings..

I use a number of approaches when looking at Self Esteem, the first step is to see why you have low self esteem. Is it messages you have internalised from a critical parent for example?

Counselling can help you to see that you are worthy of having the good things in life.

Practice description

I offer warmth, sincerity and I will assist you in gaining insight into your thoughts and feelings, without fear of judgement.

The therapy I offer is informed by my counselling training which was person-centred, my knowledge of psychology and different therapeutic approaches including Attachment Styles, CBT and also my further training in Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

After this, you are free to book a session if you wish or, if you have contacted other counsellors, you may wish to come back to me later.
