About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Integrative counsellor, offering my services online throughout the UK, so you can be in the comfort of your own home. I can support you with anxiety, relationships, bereavement and low self-worth. I have experience of working with individuals from all walks of life, with neurodiverse individuals, from different cultures and LGBT. I am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic and person-centred approach.
Being able to work with different approaches is extremely helpful as I can draw on various techniques and tools that best fit your needs towards a successful journey of healing and personal growth. I also integrate mindfulness, art, hypnotherapy and visualisations into my work, if needed to support you. My professional journey as a therapist is deeply rooted and guided in my personal belief that we are all very unique individuals and that there is no one size fits all therapy.
Practice description
My training in 'core' modalities are as follows;
Person-Centred Therapy
Person-centred therapy focuses on your innate tendency to find fulfilment by using your own personal attributions and potential which have been dampened by false beliefs and influenced by societal pressures or negative relationships. These have impacted your self perception and your view of the world blocking you from self fulfilment.
I will provide a safe, accepting and open minded environment for you to explore and understand your negative thoughts and feelings that have lead to your problems. Together we can find your strengths and work towards building a more confident and empowered you.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is a a short term therapy, however I use this approach intertwined with others when needed to support you in identifying and changing negative thoughts and behaviour that are destructive to your wellbeing.
With this approach I support you to understand your triggers and patterns and also to use various techniques to help with your healing and journey such as cognitive exercises, and relaxation methods (among others).
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy helps bring the unconscious to the conscious mind by working with your past and present, patterns and defences. I do this by drawing on similar techniques used in psychoanalysis, such as transference, free association and interpretation.
This approach can be helpful for you to unpack traumatic experiences and move on from them so to reach some closure, enabling you to pursue personal growth and to overcome or manage the impact this has on your personal development and overall happiness.
My first session
During the first session, we will discuss what brought you to counselling, what may be contributing to your problem and for you to get to know me as a therapist and see if we would like to start working together as choosing the right therapist who you feel comfortable with is really important for success.
I work at your pace and change takes time and will vary from person to person therefore, there is no predetermined amount of sessions and you may cancel sessions if you change your mind and wish not to continue at any point.The first session is also an opportunity for any questions you may have as well as discussing tasks to reach your goals.
