About me and my therapy practice

My approach focuses on belief that counselling and Psychotherapy is a process which places emphasis upon building a trusting therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client

This can provide a secure base from which to explore your thoughts, feelings and anxieties.  This will enable you to gain confidence and will enable you to manage your life more effectively.

As well as exploring present difficulties we can focus on your past to consider how previous experiences might be impacting on your current issues

In order to do this safely I offer a warm, safe, confidential environment. I offer a non - judgmental attitude recognising the uniqueness of your individual values, beliefs system and cultural background

This will support you to get beyond patterns, to see things differently and reconnect you to aspects of yourself

Practice description

I have a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic counselling.  I am a registered member of the BACP

I trained In psychodynamic counselling, I  support clients gain insight into their lives and present -day issues.  I also explore patterns clients develop over time.

To do this, I explore certain life factors with you in our sessions

Earlier life experience

Recognising recurring patterns can help you see how you might avoid distress or develop defence mechanisms to cope.

This insight may allow you to begin changing those patterns

I work both short term and long term depending on the needs of my client.

My first session

Before  our assessment, I will send you some documents.  These documents give you information about working on line and telephone sessions

It explains confidentiality and it’s limits!  The documents also ask for some personal details so I can have an idea of your issue

Our first session would be an assessment, this would allow us to see if how I work meets your needs.

This would also  give you the opportunity to ask me any questions

You are under no obligation to book further sessions if after the assessment you feel this is not for you

The assessment last for one hour!  If after the assessment we agree to book further sessions, these will last for fifty minutes

Generally these sessions would be offered weekly
