About me and my therapy practice
I very much value diversity and respect the individual. People differ we may face similar life problems and stresses that impact on our health, mental wellbeing, relationships and work. Yet our experience of these problems are unique and personal to each of us.
I will welcome you with an open heart and mind and can offer you a safe non-judgemental counselling space where we will work together at your pace to help you explore the issues that are troubling you.
I work in an integrative way to suit the specific needs of each client. Working with a wide range of issues.
My special area of interest is in Womens Health and Well-being. Affirming the importance and benefits of self-care, and building on self-awareness, self- image, confidence, and personal development. Empowering women to find and reconnect with a sense of their own identity which can often be lost in the many other roles they have in life.
I also have a work background and wide experience in working with domestic abuse.
Another area of interest for me is Mental Health Issues which can be extremely challenging and impactful on a persons everyday life, particularly for so many young people living in our present culture. My work in this area is based around the ideas and principles of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Self- Compassion.
Mindfulness is the emerging of awareness, of being present in the moment. Not thinking about the past or worrying about the future, but learning to be fully focussed on the moment, what's happening now, with a non- judgemental attitude and self- compassion.
