About me and my therapy practice
Having been both client and counsellor, I am passionate about making counselling and psychotherapy accessible to everyone. I believe that everyone has the right to be heard and understood.
For almost 10 years I worked in roles helping to safeguard vulnerable children and their families. Several years ago I realised that I wanted to work with people more relationally and collaboratively so began to train as a counsellor. I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and describe myself as a humanistic counsellor that leans towards a person-centred approach. This means that I believe, given the right conditions, we are all able to achieve growth.
I have a private practice which is based in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent and I offer face to face, telephone and online support to adults. Previously, I spent three three years working at a local hospice, the Douglas Macmillan Hospice as a volunteer bereavement counsellor. I have experience of working with a wide range of adults and the challenges that they face. I find that the impact of one experience is often intertwined with another and so, I avoid working with labels and instead focus on experiences and emotions as they present themselves.
I believe that the way we 'click' is integral to the success of our work and so I strive to nurture our relationship using warmth and empathy. If you would like to find out more, please contact me using the contact information below. I will be happy to arrange a FREE, 30 minute introductory session to explore what you would like from counselling and to discuss how we might achieve it. If I seem the right fit for you, we can then make a schedule to suit your pace and budget.
I have a comfortable and private office based in St James House, Longton. There is free on-site parking, toilets and an accessible entrance.
Due to Covid-19, all furnishings and surfaces are cleaned between sessions, the room is aired and seating adheres to social distancing guidance.
If you have any special requirements or concerns about your session, please contact me as I will try my best to accommodate them.
