About me and my therapy practiceI have been working with couples and individuals with relationship difficulties for over 20 years and have a good understanding of the challenges some relationships can face. Communication might have broken down; one of you might have had an affair; there may be depression, bereavement, loss and anxiety present; or you may be involved in an abusive relationship. These are amongst the many issues that you may want to talk about. I want clients to feel safe to talk about the issues that are troubling them so, after an initial assessment, I aim to work at a client's pace and in a style that suits them, be it supportive or more probing and challenging. This can either be for a short period of time or much longer term. I hope to help and guide clients to find ways forward that they can use in their everyday lives. I will work towards an understanding of why you find yourself in your current difficulties and, with that understanding, open up choices about how different things could be in the future. I like to think I bring qualities of warmth and commonsense (and sometimes humour) to a process that can feel daunting in the beginning and can be painful at times. My consulting room is between Strensall and Sheriff Hutton, 9 miles north of York. There is parking available in a location where your car will not be recognised and I leave time between appointments so that you will not encounter other clients coming or going.
However, I have been working online since our first lockdown and have not yet returned to face to face work.
