About me and my therapy practice

Having trained as an Integrative Counsellor, I am able to draw from various therapy models to best help a client achieve their counselling goals. My practice has developed and I now adopt the Pluralistic approach, which I have found to be the most client focussed approach.

I aim to work with clients in a dualistic way, meaning that we at the beginning and throughout the work re-evaluate goals, progress and the clients conscious awareness. The intent is to ensure the client leaves therapy more themselves and able to direct their lives in a more meaningful way.

I have worked in many different settings gaining a wide spectrum of experience, including managing countywide mental health services. I've also worked in substance & alcohol misuse services, mental health and homelessness services, including residential. All this training and experience enhances my ability to work effectively with clients from various backgrounds.

I trained primarily within the Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust, having completed my Level 6 Diploma (BACP Accredited) at Inter-Psyche.

As a member of the BACP, I work in accordance to their Ethical Framework.

Practice description

I work using the pluralistic approach, this is to say that I treat each client as an individual, who will need an individual approach to therapy.

We (the client and I) will work together and regularly assess the work in a way that recognises that different processes and approaches are needed to ensure the client gets the best possible tailored therapy.

This improvement is further evidenced by completion of an evaluation tool (CORE) at the beginning and end of therapy. The client will have a graph depicting the scores and the difference the work has made.

My first session

The first session involves an assessment, including completing forms (CORE), and giving written consent. All records are kept in accordance to ICO (Information Commissioner's Office regulations, with whom I am registered.

Should you choose to work with me I will ask you to complete the CORE form at the penultimate session and I will produce you a graph on the final session, showing progress.
