About me and my therapy practice
Do you want something to change but don't know what or how? Not sure which way to turn? Are you finding decisions hard to make? I am here for you to talk through what is going on for you, to make sense of your thoughts and feelings.
I know that life can be stressful, making you feel tired and overwhelmed. Having breathing space, time to talk through your thoughts and feelings can be really helpful. I work with you, to help you make sense of things, for you to understand yourself better.
I work in a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental way with you setting the pace and talking about what you want. I can help with such things as relationship issues, family problems and loss.
• Are you finding yourself repeating the same patterns of behaviour in your relationships? Experiences in our childhood can influence how we behave and feel as adults. By looking at your current relationships and exploring your childhood I can help you to make sense of what is going on for you now, and work with you to make changes.
• Are family issues causing you anxiety? This might be an ongoing problem that feels bigger since the Covid-19 pandemic or may be something new that you need support with. I can support you to find ways to deal with the stress and ways to reduce tension that families can cause.
• Have you suffered a loss and feel stuck, that you can’t move on? Loss can take many forms, not just the loss of a loved one. Losing your job, being made redundancy, miscarriage, the ending of a relationship and the loss of the childhood you wanted but never had are just some of the losses we may go through in our lives. I provide a space to unravel your thoughts and feelings.
I am a qualified counsellor based in Portsmouth. If you would like to talk to me about your relationships, family, loss, or whatever is going on for you, then drop me an email or give me a call. I promise to listen and to hear you in confidence.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute telephone call where you can give me a brief outline of what has brought you to counselling. It will also give you an opportunity to ask questions and to get an idea of whether I am the right counsellor for you. I will ask you some questions and ensure that I have the right experience for you.
Following this, you can book an appointment with me or you can have a think about it.
The first session will be about getting to know each other and further expanding on what you told me in our telephone call. I will ask for contact details, if these were not taken during our call. I will also ask for any other information that is relevant, for example your family history. I will go over my counselling agreement and privacy notice to ensure you understand and consent.
If you have any questions about the first session, please email me.
