About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Harry, a Person-Centred and trauma informed Counsellor currently working via telephone and video online.
There are all sorts of reasons as to why you might be looking for therapy. Each of us has our own individual history, pressures, and ways of coping. Therapy can help you in a number of ways. For example, it can help you to heal emotional wounds, to gain new ways of looking at why you may be struggling, or develop personal tools to help you cope in the future.
In my work with you I will create a confidential space where you can talk about and explore the things you want to, whatever they may be. Whatever your concern, no topic is off limits. We will go at your pace as you explore your experiences - doing our best to clarify and understand them together, and so find a way for you to heal emotional wounds.
Practice description
I work from the Person-Centred perspective. There is much that can be said about this, but a key aspect is that I believe all of us, when supported, have an innate drive towards wellbeing - our work will primarily be centred around supporting that innate drive within you.
The two foundations of my work are that: 1) We will work together to understand your experience and 2) We will build a therapeutic relationship - that is, one that is authentic, safe, and trusting - within which you can explore and find your way to express what is going on for you and how it is impacting you.
I am open to discussing any areas you may want to work on in sessions and I have experience working across a broad range of issues. I have worked in therapy services in the NHS with anxiety and depression, in two different third sector counselling services in Leeds, as well as a Leeds crisis service. I welcome those who have non-monogamous relationship styles, and I work from an LGBTQ+ affirmative position.
You are welcome to get in touch and we can discuss your needs via an initial free session. You can ask any questions you may have and get to know me a little. After that, if you feel you'd like to work with me, we can book an initial appointment. You might want to have one session, several sessions, or work long term with me. Whatever it may be, I look forward to hearing from you.
