About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about the healing power of counselling and psychotherapy and the capacity of the human spirit to heal, develop and grow. This belief, coupled with my training and experience, underpins how I work.
If you are feeling emotional pain or distress, feeling stuck; find yourself repeating patterns; feeling confused; lacking a sense of direction or needing an emotional sounding board, then investing in counselling or psychotherapy can be life enriching.
The process of counselling and therapy can help with: healing emotional wounds of the past; making sense of ourselves and our place in the world; understanding how we relate to others and help with change which can be life transforming.
What to expect when you make contact: The first contact by either telephone, email or text will give you a chance to ask me any questions you may have about my qualifications, experience and how I work. You will be able to explain briefly what you would like help with.
At the first appointment: The first meeting is a two way process whereby we explore together in more detail what has led you to seek help; how your life is at the moment and what you would like to get from the counselling or therapy. You will be discovering how I work and if you feel comfortable with me further sessions can be booked.
My approach is integrative which means I draw on several different theoretical approaches to support my work. I have received training in the following approaches: Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existential, CBT and Brief term work. I also work in a client centred (or humanistic) way which means that I work differently with everyone because each of us and our needs and experiences are unique.
I have experience of working privately and I am also a registered provider with BUPA, Aviva, Vitality, Cigna, and Helix Health Services Ltd. I am also an accredited member of the Cambridgeshire Consultancy in Counselling.
