About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor who has worked with adults and young people covering issues including anxiety, bereavement, depression, loss, eating disorders, shame, anger, guilt, family relationships, childhood trauma, sexuality and gender, low self-esteem, sexual abuse, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
I initially trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor, I therefore work with non-judgement, empathy and genuineness to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients. I tend to use an Integrative approach to find the best way to support my clients, often working creatively. I have regular Supervision, this oversees my client work ensuring that I am working ethically and safely.
I started my Counselling journey working as a CRUSE Bereavement Volunteer visiting bereaved people in their own homes. I then went on to Counsel students in a Secondary School where I worked as a School Counsellor and in a Further Education College where I was part of a team of Counsellors working with young people and adults. I have also worked at SWEDA counselling young people with eating disorders.
I am from an Arts Education background. Prior to training as a Counsellor I worked for Arts Charities and as an Art Teacher with children and adults.
