About me and my therapy practice

Have you noticed that your problems have begun to affect your daily life, functioning at work, relationships, your health or finances? You may be feeling anxious and depressed and lacking motivation in daily life. You may be feeling angry or out of control.  Counselling helps you to understand more about your issues, assess the nature of your struggles and provide strategies to put more helpful behaviours in place. This is done in with non-judgment and compassion to facilitate change, growth & recovery.

I can help with all manner of personal challenges and worries you may have, such as relationship issues, anxiety, stress, depression, anger, abuse & illness. I am specialist in Sex Addictions Therapy, working with compulsive sex and porn behaviours. See www.stephaniejeans.co.uk

I have also specialised in all manner of bereavement and especially in helping with the unique grief of those who have lost a child or a sibling, having managed the Johannesburg branch of The Compassionate Friends. Alongside of this, I also have a special affinity for working with young people, following on from 13 years as a secondary school teacher.

To book our first appointment call me now on +44(0)7772696598, or send me an email to info@indabacounselling.co.uk. I also work extensively online via skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, telephone etc if this suits your lifestyle and needs. I have foe many years worked with clients globally and nationaly in this way. I value your privacy - all calls and emails are dealt with by me alone and are strictly confidential. As we work together you will see there can be a more optimistic, confident and happier future for you.

I am close to bus routes, and there is free parking on the road. Disabled access.

My first session

Our intial assessment session is to help ascertain if I am the right counsellor for you - the therapeutic relationship is unique and I  support new clients to feel comfortable and at ease.

I gain a synosis of your narrative, and subsequent sessions then delve deeper into challenges and issues you may be facing. I will explain how therapy may be able to help and you are invited to ask any questions you need to.

A session is 50 minutes, and if you have been anxious about taking this step, my aim is for you to walk out feeling a relief and hope that you have taken this step.

I am also very happy to have a chat on the phone prior to making any commitment to an assessment session.

About me and my therapy practice

I see Supervision as a supportive working alliance between myself as a supervisor and my supervisees. It is s a joint exploration of material that you bring to the session, giving you an . opportunity to reflect upon it, receive feedback, and where appropriate, guidance. I recognise that we each have different types of knowledge and experience – you will have a greater knowledge of the client than your supervisor, even if the supervisor has the greater experience of therapy.

My fundamental approach is to encourage you to in gaining ethical competence, confidence, compassion and creativity, so as to be able to give the best possible emotional and therapeutic support to your clients.

I am specialist in Sex and Pornography Addictions Therapy, and as such am qualified to supervise counsellors training in this field who may be gaining placement hours, or those who currently practice with this client group. Equally I am trained to work with offenders so am able to support therapists who work in this field.

Supervision is an essential element of your counselling practice and the BACP recommendation is one and a half hours every month, with additional supervision should client load be heavy or if a specific issue arises requiring consultation.
