About me and my therapy practice

I work with adults, young people and children.

My name is Fiona Jarvie and I have worked in the counselling profession for 7 years now, proudly achieving a BA (hons) Degree in Counselling Studies and more recently, becoming an EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing) Practitioner. I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy); on their Register of Proficiency and as such I am bound by the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Your counselling sessions will be based in my cosy, relaxing and safe environment, setting the stage for you to explore, reflect and let go of what’s holding you back. NEW: Telephone sessions available.  My initial training was Person-Centred, being truly there for the other, showing the core conditions of unconditional positive regard, congruency and empathy. Sometimes I feel that extra tools are needed, which is when I will offer you the chance to experience other approaches,  or bring in some creative ideas. These therapies involve setting goals/taking action and can be motivational and fun!

EMDR - Sometimes our past traumas just won't go away.  They prevent us from leading a happy life, they stop us from socialising, they stop us from working and ruin relationships.  Past traumatic memories can get trapped, due to our brain trying to protect us at that time.  Unfortunately, they do not stay hidden forever and come back in the form of a flash back or nightmares, leading to anxiety and depression.

This therapy will help you make a connection between your past trapped painful emotions and enable you to work on them during your sessions with me, reducing the painful flash backs and nightmares.

Together, we can do this!
