About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling with body image and food or compensatory behaviours and in need of some support? I am an accredited integrative therapist and clinical supervisor specialising in eating disorders; specifically ~ bulimia, binge eating disorder and anorexia. My aim is to support you in overcoming these stressful symptoms that negatively impact your health and well-being. I offer emotional exploration and practical guidance to help you improve your relationship with food and with yourself, improve your body image and self-esteem, and move past your symptoms toward your life aspirations. My fee is £65 per session and concessions are available.

I have a warm, gentle and authentic approach and offer a safe, collaborative and non-judgmental space where I aim to support your autonomy. As a side note, I made a full recovery from bulimia, which seemed impossible to me at the time.

In addition to my regular practice, from July 2024 I'll be offering EMDR at a reduced fee of £55 while I’m training and will be using my existing therapeutic skills alongside this. EMDR is an advanced psychotherapy, now included in the NICE guidelines and approved by the NHS and the WHO as an effective treatment for processing traumatic memories. These may present as negative emotions, beliefs, body sensations or mental images and can contribute to a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or relationship issues for example. As well as being an effective treatment for PTSD, EMDR can be useful if you have endured physical, sexual or emotional abuse, bullying or harassment, social humiliation, sudden loss or separation from a loved one, or witnessed a traumatic event.

As well as eating disorders, I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety and other emotional difficulties, low self-confidence, problems in relationships, family issues, abuse, and feelings around intense loss such as bereavement or the ending of a close relationship.

Practice description

I integrate various therapeutic approaches. My main style is person-centred, where I support you in exploring your issues, emotions and beliefs, and help you to gain insight and autonomy so you can work towards managing both present and future challenges independently. I also weave into my approach elements of gestalt, compassion-focused therapy, and solution-focused therapy and sometimes integrate cognitive behavioural therapy, which can be useful for challenging negative, habitual, or irrational thoughts, beliefs or behaviours. I run my therapy practice online using Zoom.

I have also completed specialised training in the field of eating disorders which I integrate into my approach in this area. These comprise specialist supportive clinical management (SSCM), MANTRA and CBT-E. I also run a disordered eating support service within BIMM Universities whereby students in need can access a block of 6 therapy sessions to support their recovery.

Being an accredited as well as registered member of the BACP shows I have met their additional criteria for a high standard of training, competence and experience.

I offer a free online consultation lasting up to 20 minutes, so we can meet each other first and discuss what you're looking for support with, see if we are a good fit and if I may be able to help.
