About me and my therapy practice

I believe Counselling can be a great place to start reconnecting with the person you truly are when you feel safe enough to take off the mask. I see it as my role to listen, understand, support and meet you where you are now. With all my clients the goal is to help you start being the person you always imagined you would be before life wore you down.

My background is in family work so I have a wealth of experience working with people who have experienced both generational trauma, but also just struggling to manage the challenges of life’s daily hassles. I know how hard making the decision to break that cycle and start making your mental health a priority can be and I want to help to make it that little bit easier.

Trauma is a word I feel is hugely underused, it doesn’t have to be a huge life-changing event that everyone would understand. It can be unknowingly growing up with a parent who struggled with their own mental health. It can be a loss in the family that you thought you were too young to be impacted by. It can be your parent leaving with no explanation and growing up with a feeling of never being good enough. Life is so complicated and until we unpick it we often have no idea why we are struggling.

Practice description

I work with a wide range of clients but as a Mum of 2 I specialise in working with parents struggling from conception, pregnancy birth and beyond. Huge life changes are often the first time we realise how much we need to work on ourselves as we have another human to think about. I have supported Mum’s struggling with loss, birth trauma, fertility issues, pre & postnatal depression, and more.

I have experience supporting a wide variety of issues including loss I worked for Cruse Bereavement services for 2 years. Anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, and low self-esteem and family relationships.

I also work with adolescents in secondary schools with The Sid youth and in my private practice. I work with children struggling with issues including exam pressures, self-esteem, identity issues, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, and family breakdown. The work is very different from adults and I think they really compliment each other as I understand both ends of the spectrum. I often find with adolescents I need to be more creative but they often have far more insight into their mental health as they have grown up with works like anxiety and depression in their vocabulary in a way never did. Recently I have done a lot of work with young people struggling with their identity and helping clients to feel confident with who they are is something I am really passionate about.
