About me and my therapy practice
The general aim of psychotherapy is to help us live a more satisfying and rewarding life and for us to experience a greater sense of ease and freedom within ourselves.
The therapeutic approach that I practice is mindfulness based and offers a way in which we can achieve a greater sense of health and well-being by identifying the 'blocks' that prevent us from fully connecting with our own true nature and sense of who we truly are.
This awareness gives rise to an opportunity for us to let go of ways of being that no longer serve us well and to creatively explore what else may serve us better and lead to more fulfilling and satisfying ways of living and relating to others.
I have been working with clients since 2008 and since that time I have been built up a wide range of experience working with clients in a number of different settings ranging from NHS primary and secondary care (GP surgery, Gender clinic, Community Mental Health Services) to community based and not-for-profit counselling services and private practice.
My practice is based in the heart of the Cornish countryside surrounded by, and informed by, nature.
In the privacy of this setting, I offer a compassionate and confidential therapeutic space in which all aspects of your being will be welcomed with warmth and understanding and where you can safely and securely bring all those difficulties and struggles that have been the cause of pain and suffering in your life, both past and present.
I offer both long and short-term psychotherapy with individuals on a face-to-face basis. The time spent working together will depend on what you want to bring to therapy and what it is you want to achieve.
(Please note that at present, all therapy sessions are being held online due to Covid 19 health restrictions).
I hold a Masters Degree (MA) in Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute in Devon and I am registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and ACPP (Association of Core Process Psychotherapists) as an accredited psychotherapist.
I abide by these organisations' ethical frameworks and guidelines for good practice and codes of confidentiality.
I have also trained at the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter and have a Diploma in Integrative and Relational Approaches to Transactional Analytic Psychotherapy and have a Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Psychology.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
I have full Professional Liability insurance and I am a registered ICO data controller.
My first sessionI offer the first session free of charge.
This is an initial Introductory Meeting where we will discuss what you want to bring to psychotherapy and we make an agreement together on the way forward if you decide you want to proceed with regular therapy sessions.
