About me and my therapy practice
I am a counsellor/therapist and with over 25 years’ experience in both public, educational and charitable sectors. The experience of counselling offers you a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore your private and personal feelings, and thoughts - perhaps those you’ve never shared with anyone, or looked at before. I aim to offer you that valuable space, and to explore with you, in a deeper way, and at your pace, the various aspects of your life and relationships. This may involve looking at some difficult or even painful memories from the past, or looking at the feelings that you are experiencing now and how they are affecting you and your relationships.
Client centred, or person centred theory forms the basis for how I work, but I also am strongly influenced by psychodynamic theory. Depending on how I see what might suit my clients’ needs, at any given time, I draw on other theories such as CBT, psychosynthesis, solution-focussed or systemic.
Over the last 20 years I have worked in research and service provision in university/hospital and in specialist schools. Currently and for the last 13 years I work for a low-cost counselling charity.
