About me and my therapy practice
People often don't know what to expect when they think about coming to see a counsellor, but most discover that being allowed to talk through the things that are troubling them within a safe and supportive environment with a skilled listener can have far-reaching effects on their lives and the lives of those dear to them.
Facilitating people to find their way out of difficulties/emotional pain, to a deeper understanding of themselves and others or find meaning in their lives once more or perhaps for the first time are some of the benefits of the therapy I have offered to my clients.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from the University of Cambridge. This training was accredited by the BACP. Where necessary I will assist clients to understand their current difficulty in light of earlier experiences, which may also need to be worked through therapeutically. Therapy is a collaborative exploration and a process which evolves through the therapist and client working together to enable true healing, insight, growth and transformation. I work with a wide range of issues and in therapy tend to think about the whole person and their life experiences and so am more likely to understand specific concerns as one aspect of a much broader context.
I am an Accredited member of the BACP with over 14 years experience in a variety of settings, including charities, private practice and five years at the University of Cambridge Counselling Service. I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (MBPsS) and hold a Diploma in Group Work from the Institute of Group Analysis.
