About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred counsellor. This approach is based on the belief that each person is the expert for finding their own way to their desired change and growth, and the counsellor's role is to support this process by using a specific set of skills designed to encourage empowerment, self-awareness and self-compassion in the client. As a person-centred counsellor I do not offer advice, however I am trained in using tools and techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in a person-centred way, should this be appropriate for the client. I am a creative person, interested in various mindfulness practices, philosophies, and the personal growth and development as the key to overcoming modern-day human emotional difficulties - all these personal interests and tendencies also add these aspects to the way I practice counselling.
I offer 50 minute sessions at frequencies of once a week or once a fortnight. There are some cases in which I will agree to sessions once a month, although this is rarely enough to enable the therapeutic process.
I offer video (via Zoom) and telephone sessions across the UK. There are also Live Chat sessions (via Zoom, by not using the options for video and audio, but using the chat/typing option instead). I am also open to working with clients abroad via video call, provided that we can communicate in English or Serbian (I am open to working with clients who speak Bosnian, Croatian and Montenegrin too).
My first session
There are two options for the first session:
20 minutes introductory session (free of charge) - this is not a counselling session, but a meeting where both the client and the counsellor can have a chance to decide if they want to start a counselling relationship
Regular 50 minutes counselling session (regular session fee) - for clients who do not want to have an introductory session but wish to start their counselling straight away. Please allow that the first regular session will include some time for discussing and agreeing the ways of working together.
