About me and my therapy practice
I offer a respectful, non-judgemental, supportive and confidential environment, where you are able to explore the difficulties and problems you may be facing. Together we can make sense of what is troubling you and find new approaches that enable you to move forward and make positive change. We can work together for short term focused work or longer term periods, depending on what your individual requirements are.
I work in a holistic way, having a background in Gestalt and humanistic approaches to therapy. I also incorporate mindfulness and creativity when appropriate and if you feel comfortable working this way. I can also offer more focused short term work, incorporating CBT.
My work is based on understanding the difficulties you may be experiencing and the effects these are having on your life. You may have experienced a life changing event or you may have realised that you need help with a recurring problem that you just can’t seem to understand or change. Regardless of why, counselling is the opportunity to explore your feelings, making sense of past and present situations you may find yourself in, perhaps at the moment or repeatedly. Sometimes we are unaware of our patterns of thinking and behaviour and how these can become unhelpful to us.
I am able to work with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, low self esteem, OCD, relationships, impact of dementia, being a carer, menopause, gender and sexuality, stress, self harm, trauma, domestic and sexual violence.
