About me and my therapy practice
Life can be hard, and being human can be a tough gig sometimes. When things reach a point where you feel you can’t do it all by yourself, it can help to have the support of someone who is independent from any other area of your life, and whose job it is to listen, help you explore what’s going on, and have your back. You don’t have to suffer in silence.
You may be experiencing a challenging stage in life, a conflicted state of mind, or a difficulty within yourself that keeps on returning to trouble you. Working with a trained professional in a confidential setting can be helpful in gaining valuable insight into your situation, and bringing about much-needed change.
I support people who want to work with:
- Emotional issues such as anxiety, depression, dissociation, low self-esteem/confidence, high sensitivity (‘HSP’s).
- Situational issues such as stress, grief, lack of assertiveness, isolation, work or career-related matters.
- Issues of meaning, spirituality, lack of direction.
- Recovery from childhood trauma, early abandonment, C-PTSD, growing up as a Third-Culture Kid (‘TCK’).
It may feel confronting to take that first step and ask for help, especially at a time when you might be in quite a vulnerable place. I well remember how awkward it was for me. With that in mind, if you would like to get in touch to book an initial session, find out more, or just test the waters, please know I’ll do all I can to make it as easy as possible.
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling from the Psychosynthesis Trust, and am a registered member of the BACP. I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology and am a member of the British Psychological Society.
I am trained in an integrative style of counselling which draws on teachings from the psychodynamic, person-centred, gestalt and transpersonal schools of thought. This style works with body, feelings and mind to resolve internal conflicts and integrate them in service of a deeper connection to your authenticity. How this shows up in our work will depend on where you are at and what you are wanting to work on. No two clients are alike and I work to tailor our sessions to suit you best.
My first session
If you are interested in working with me then please get in touch to book a first session. I will get back to you as soon as I can, usually within 24 hours. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to start just by having a 20 minute phone conversation (at no cost and no obligation), then let me know and we can agree a time for that.
You don’t need a GP referral.
Our first session will enable both of us to assess the suitability of our working together. It is a chance for us to get to know each other and to find out what will best meet your needs. I will ask questions about your history and what has brought you to therapy, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
