About me and my therapy practice
I am a long experienced psychotherapist practicing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Integretaive Counselling to clients in the South West. For over 20 years I have worked extensively for several agencies and settings including Bristol City Council Occupational Health, Avon and Somerset Police, Bristol Crown Court Witness Service and am currently Associate Counsellor at Bristol University. From July 2019 I am offering to see Private clients from either Bristol City Centre or from Tickenham in Bristol.
I have an interest in Anxiety and the latest understandings, research and approaches to best manage.
Amongst other approaches I use CBT which is an active challenging approach helping you gain the tools to manage your own Anxiety/Depression. Some people feel CBT maybe to directive and less empathetic than other approaches. How I work and above anything else places importance on the strength of the therapeutic relationship where you will be listened to, not judged and we will work together using modern understandings to improve your condition.
I have also seen the benefit of Animals in working with young adults on the Autism spectrum - my Tickenham office is part of an Alpaca farm where there maybe the opportunity to meet the animals.
I have a Diploma in Counselling - Bristol 1998.
I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - Bath 2014
I am a Registered & Accredited member of the BACP (0731701)
I have a Enhanced DBS Check Certification.
