About me and my therapy practice
Parents and carers bring their children and young people to see me often because of uncharacteristic changes in their child's attitude or behaviour, either at home or school, or both. They have tried everything and are exhausted with worry; fearing that their child or teenager will only get worse. Family life is suffering and the future is beginning to look bleak.
Whether or not you've reached this 'last straw' place, children and young people can find it helpful to speak to a relative 'stranger'. For my part, I help them to understand that whatever 'the problem' is, the problem is the problem and not them. Through talk and play, we can try to unravel what's happening to the child or young person's world to understand better how they see and experience the world around them.
I have experience of supporting children and young people in a variety of organisations such as schools, specialists agencies and children and family centres.
I appreciate how difficult taking a step like this can be, which is why I offer an initial free consultation for up to 30 minutes either by phone or face-to-face. This gives us the opportunity to share your concerns, discuss what's covered in the first session and answer any questions you may have about the therapy and ongoing sessions.
Working with Parents
As well as supporting children and young people, I provide sessions for parents and carers either individually/as a couple or within a group. If this is of interest to you, please get in touch and we can discuss how best to provide support.
