About me and my therapy practice
These are unusual times and there is more stress and anxiety than ever, sometimes it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever your situation I can offer you an empathetic ear and a non-judgmental space to unload anything that’s on your mind. It can be long term problems that have been there all your life, a current crisis or maybe even a feeling that you want to change something but you're not sure what. Whatever you want to bring to sessions will be handled in a confidential, non-judgemental way and I aim to provide a safe and calm space in which you can explore your feelings and find a way forward.
I can work with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress and self-esteem. I am also a care worker working in a care home and I can use experience gained working in the care profession to help you talk through any issues involving care and support, including end of life and dementia.
Practice description
I trained as a humanistic integrative counsellor, an approach which recognises that there are significant connections between all approaches to counselling. It accepts that different clients have different needs and believes that no single method is sufficient. The approaches that I draw on are the Person-centred approach, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis, and I am also trained in CBT.
I am back to working in person now (subject to room availability), but I am also still available via video calling (Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp etc) or telephone.
I am qualified to work with adults, children and adolescents.
My first session
Following initial contact from you, we can arrange an assessment over the telephone which will take about 30 minutes and is free of charge. We can also do this via video calling too. This will give me an idea of what you need help with and allow you to see if I am the right counsellor for you.
Following this, we can begin sessions to explore your issue in more detail to develop an understanding of how it started and the impact it has had, or is still having, on your life. If you want to, we can agree a set number of sessions, or you can leave it open ended to finish when you feel the time is right.
