About me and my therapy practice

Welcome,  I'm Jenni and let me begin by acknowledging your steps in seeking counselling support.  You may feel overwhelmed with choice, but it's worth taking your time to read profiles.  Hopefully I can be clear on what I offer as an Accredited BACP Counsellor, giving support to Adults in Brighton, Hove and wider Sussex.

As an adult, whether young or older, daily pressures can build up.  Worries around family, relationships, work, study, health and finances are normal but how we respond to life's difficulties is different for every one of us.  Historical or present, if problems remain unresolved, thoughts and feelings can begin to overwhelm and play out in unhealthy behaviours.

It's common to feel guilt and pressure for not feeling happier. We often prioritise the needs of others before ourselves, particularly if we have partners or dependants who need our time and care. Whist we understand talking might help, we might prefer not to burden friends and family with our own problems

So whether you have a sense of the underlying cause or not, working together in a safe and confidential space, I'll help you to untangle your thoughts. By listening to your experience from your perspective, I can help you reframe your difficulties, enabling you to focus on your future and wellbeing, ready to reconnect.

I can help with a wide range of issues and invite you to check the separate list on my profile for the areas I have experience in helping.  As an Integrated Humanistic Counsellor I tailor your therapy to your needs and I respect your individuality.  You can experience support and kindness and learn how to set essential boundaries.

I use psychotherapies which encourage personal growth and self-awareness by offering healing conditions which may have been missed in childhood.   I help Clients recognise why they may be feeling stuck and shed new light on old or existing unhelpful thoughts, feelings or behaviours to gain new perspectives.

Whatever your story I'm All Ears and here to hear you

Practice description

I have enjoyed working in Private Practice since 2017 through my service All Ears Counselling, having previously trained and qualified at the Wealden College of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

In 2021 I further gained my BACP Accreditation status.

I work with Adults 18+ in Brighton and Hove and throughout the region of East and West Sussex.  It's never too late to receive counselling and there is no upper age limit.

I have experience working with a wide issues including bereavement, trauma, fertility and pregnancy issues, relationship issues, anger management, stress, anxiety and depression.  For further details of issues I can help with, please see the full listing in my profile.

I spent several years working with the wonderful charity Oscars Wish Foundation, offering bereavement and counselling support to couples and families who sadly experienced baby loss through neo natal death, miscarriage, stillbirth or complications from IVF.  I continue to work with Clients who have experienced trauma and difficulty both in pregnancy and loss.

I undertake regular learning with CPD (Continued Professional Development) and have received separate training working with Trauma and shame.

In past years I also volunteered for the local Charities Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) in Lewes and Newhaven and Care For The Carers in Eastbourne which both gave me experience working with vulnerable people in our community.

Counselling has been invaluable in my own life and I have personally experienced how supportive and life changing therapy can be.  I really enjoy being able to offer to others the experience to feel differently about the way they currently do and to help them on the way to a better sense of wellbeing and healing of past or present pain.

My first session

Before we meet, I recommend that we speak by phone first.  I'll offer you a 30 minute telephone call free of charge to introduce myself and to find out a little more about your what you hope Counselling might help with.  Of course if this is too difficult and you would prefer initial contact via email, we can arrange this.

I'll happily answer any questions you may have and if no other reason presents itself as to why we can't move forwards together, I'll invite you for a 50 minute Assessment session, either in person or on-line, depending on your preference.

During the Assessment Session we'll take time so that you have the opportunity to share more about the history of what you're bringing to therapy, the support you are looking for and your current situation .  I'll enquire about your family history, medical background, immediate family and support network.  This will give me a full profile of what our work may look like to begin with and I will take notes during this session.  I comply with the data standards protection (IOS) and of course what you say to me both during the assessment and throughout any further session work remains entirely confidential.  There are guidelines to follow in therapy for both your wellbeing and my professional standards and there will be a written contract to sign should you choose to progress to booking sessions.

You may find it helpful to speak to a few Counsellors before deciding who to work with.  I understand you may feel nervous to begin with, especially if this is your first experience of Counselling.

If you do choose to book some sessions, we'll regularly review our work together, usually every 6 sessions or so, to check in with each other that you're happy with how things are going and for us both to check I'm meeting your therapeutic needs.

My Fee for Regular Sessions and the Assessment Session is £55 to be paid either in advance or within 24hrs of the session.

Session duration is 50 minutes.

Please send me a message with any questions.
