About me and my therapy practice
I consider we are an array of emotions and moods and at times can feel anxious or low, perhaps due to something that is currently happening in our life or perhaps we are not sure why we feel that way, only that something feels not quite right. By sharing that experience with someone not within our family/friendship circle, helps to bring understanding and a sense of balance back into our life.
The way I work is to focus upon you and what you would like to bring to the session. My approach is integrative, drawing upon different ways and perspectives of understanding human behaviour. Part of the work will sometimes look at how the past may be playing out in the present, which brings a greater understanding of what might be causing distress and relationship difficulties. Once we begin to understand ‘why’, we can work towards making changes to a more, healthier way of living.
My experience has been with many different presenting difficulties and client backgrounds - young people and adults - seeing each client as an individual with their own story and experience. I have worked within University settings teaching trainee counsellors as well as managed counselling agencies.
Our first meeting gives opportunity to explore what is worrying you and if the way I work meets with what you are looking for. It gives chance to see if we ‘connect’
The space is confidential and focuses upon meeting your individual needs
I also provide clinical supervision to trainee and professional counsellors
I have two other counselling locations, one in Leire, a small village in South Leicestershire (located close to Broughton Astley, Lutterworth and Hinckley area) and one in Leicester City Centre, based on London Road
Practice description
This practice is located within a quiet street, with plenty of on-road parking nearby
My first session
Our first session gives opportunity to see if the way I work meets with what you are looking for and if we 'connect' - research informs us that the better connection within the therapeutic relationship, the more beneficial the counselling becomes.
This is also where we will explore and discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to achieve from the process. Some background information and assessment elements will also take place on our first session.
If preferred, before booking a session, I do offer a free brief 10 minute telephone consultation.

About me and my therapy practice
SUPERVISION:
1:1 or group supervision to both qualified and trainee counsellors. My model is predominantly psychodynamic, however, I work within an integrative model, drawing from many areas of theory and practice. I have extensive experience of supervising practitioners who work with young people, both privately and within school settings, as well as adult work. For the past 7 years I have trained and supervised students at the University of Leicester on the Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling.
I offer a warm, open and collaborative space to think about the therapeutic relationship and work, and enhance practitioner personal and professional development
