About me and my therapy practice

As an experienced therapist both in the voluntary sector as well as in the NHS, my aim is to provide therapeutic support which is effective and meaningful to the client.

I have years of experience providing short term (6-12 sessions) and long term therapy depending on the needs of the individual. Clients I have worked with have presented with a range of emotional difficulties including phobias, low mood, anxiety, relationship difficulties and other issues while some have the desire to use therapy for personal development. I have also worked more specifically with difficulties around bereavement and with issues affecting the gay, lesbian and bisexual community.

I recommend that when entering therapy there is commitment involved for the process and desire to make a change in order for the therapy to be effective.

My psychological underpinning resides in a humanistic approach, namely person-centred therapy. I am also able to provide cognitive-behaviour therapy, solution-focus therapy with more conventional therapeutic approaches in mind. As a master Neuro-Lingusitic Programming practitioner, I am also able to provide more practical strategies to coping with difficulties, and my aim is to work with the client using the best of my abilities and knowledge in a way which would be helpful and relevant while refraining from fitting a client into a psychological model or theory.

Feel free to contact me to discuss your needs and see whether my knowledge and experience fits in with your expectations.

Therapy is about the relationship in the therapy room and so it is paramount for you to feel that the professional sat in front of you is one you can feel safe with and build a trusting relationship so that positive change can take place.
