About me and my therapy practice

Who Am I? - I am a BACP accredited counsellor, with over 10 years post qualified experience, offering a safe, confidential and reflective space for individuals and couples. My practice is based in West Norwood, South London on Thursdays.

I work face to face, online or over the telephone.

Fees - My fees are £60 for individuals and £80 for couples, for both initial assessments and subsequent 50 minute sessions.

Training - I completed my initial professional training in 2008, graduating with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Lambeth College, London. I went on to gain a Post Graduate Certificate in Systemic Family Therapy (with a specialism in families and couples) with the Institute of Family Therapy which deepened my knowledge and understanding of the complexities of relationships and the dynamics that lie between individuals.

I completed my supervision training in 2015 at the Mary Ward Centre, London (please see my Supervisor listing for additional information).

I am also trained and have significant experience of working therapeutically over the telephone and online.

Practice description

Approach - My way of working is Integrative, meaning that my knowledge and appreciation for different theoretical approaches are combined to enhance my practice and the experience of my clients. My training in humanistic theories, including the person centred and psychodynamic approaches, intercultural counselling and systemic theories provide me with a rich framework to draw from and find a suitable for the needs of each client.

Experience - In addition to my private practice, I held the post of senior counsellor & service coordinator for over 6 years for one of the UK's leading sight loss charities, holding shared responsibility for a team of qualified therapists & trainees on placement and for the provision of training.

My current roles include clinical assessor for a BACP accredited NHS IAPT counselling service in West London, supervisor at a community counselling service in West Norwood and counsellor of children and young people for a counselling service in South London.

My first session

Introductory Call

I offer all prospective new clients a free 15-minute telephone call for us to learn a little about one another. If it feels that we might be the right fit and can offer a time to suit, we can arrange to meet for our initial consultation.

Initial Consultation

Our initial consultation will provide us with the opportunity to explore your needs in more depth and allow us to arrive at a decision about working together. You'll have space to talk about the reasons bringing you to counselling and we'll explore your historical context, your current circumstances and your expectations for therapy. You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions about how counselling will work and some of the practicalities. If by the end of our first meeting, we both feel that we'd like to continue working together we'll agree a suitable, regular appointment time going forward. If it’s felt that another approach or a different counsellor might be more suitable for you, I would be happy to support you in offering some referral options.
