About me and my therapy practice

Back in 2008 I completed the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) diploma in therapeutic counselling.

The model I use is an integrative model of counselling which means I am able to adapt my approach in counselling to your individual needs. Integrative counselling is collaborative and the relationship between you and I, Counsellor and Client is central. My counselling approach is non directive and is person centred, as I believe counselling enables people to reflect upon their emotions, thoughts, behaviours and actions.

I will explore your reasons for attending counselling using an empathic approach, and I encourage my clients to use techniques outside the counselling space like mindfulness and meditation.

Practice description

I currently offer counselling sessions in your own home, and in a rather unconventional setting of a campervan. This enables me to be mobile, and reach more clients. I will offer you the choice of where you would like to receive the counselling.

Each session lasts for 50 minutes. (therapeutic hour.)

My counselling practice is underpinned by the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling professionals, which means I work to high professional standards, I ensure I work ethically, and I attend regular clinical supervision to constantly improve my counselling approach and to ensure I am always mindful of my way of being in counselling sessions.

My first session

Your first session of counselling will differ to subsequent sessions, as it will involve us drawing up a contract/agreement, we will discuss boundaries of within and outside the therapeutic relationship, and we will discuss confidentiality and disclosure.

The first session allows me as your counsellor to assess your needs, and allows us both to consider if we feel my approach will be helpful to you.

You may also introduce your reasons for seeking therapy, and we may establish what you hope to gain from your therapy sessions.
