About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist based in London, working online and face-to-face.
I am deeply committed to helping people understand themselves, find meaning and live better lives, and believe that therapy is most impactful when it is based on mutual trust, respect and openness to growth.
While my training is psychodynamic, I actively integrate key ideas from existential, relational and neuro psychoanalytic therapeutic approaches into my work. If you would like to know more about what this means in practice, please ask me when we meet.
My role as a therapist is to help people to explore their problems and work through them in a supportive way. The aim is always to help a client to gain new understanding and help them move forwards.
Often, this involves exploring a client's immediate circumstances and feelings. Sometimes, it can also be useful to think about past events and how these might affect the present.
In this way, I have helped people address feelings of depression, anxiety or stress related to relationships, family, work, cultural or societal expectations, health issues, sexuality, identity and abuse.
The aim is always to help a client gain new understanding and help them move forwards by finding new meaning in their experience.
My first session
As a starting point, I offer a free consultation to explore your situation, get a feel for what it will be like to work together and to answer any questions you have. This is always a very open conversation with no expectation or obligation.
If we then decide to work together, we will meet regularly in-person at my consulting room in Old Street or Clerkenwell, which are well placed for clients based in Hackney, Hoxton, Clerkenwell, Angel and the City.
I also offer the opportunity to work remotely via phone or Skype depending on your circumstances.
