About me and my therapy practice

I am experienced in using humanistic and evidence based approaches to treat complex issues, across all ages. I have specialist training in eating disorders, anxiety and depression.

I am experienced in working proficiently in different settings such as schools, the NHS and privately.  Over the years' I have developed a flexible approach to meet individual needs. I don't believe that one approach fits all, and am able to think creatively and outside the box. I have experience of and working with neuro diversity such as Autism and ADHD.  I am qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, if you are looking for a more structured, evidence based approach 'treatment' for difficulties such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders and OCD.

Talking to a therapist can make a difference. The process can help you to understand yourself, and the impact of your thoughts and behaviours more deeply. Together we can work on developing alternative coping strategies, and new cognitive and behavioural patterns. I can support you on a long term or short term basis depending on your individual needs. I will listen to you without judgment encourage you if needed, to have more compassion toward yourself. Ultimately resulting in better mental health, improved relationships and quality of life. Taking this step can be daunting and overwhelming, I aim to help you or your child/young person feel at ease, in a safe and confidential environment, with the end goal of becoming fully self supporting.

Practice description

Person Centred Psychotherapy (Rogerian): Sessions are weekly to treat common mental health difficulties and trauma. This is a talking therapy model to suit clients who want to openly explore their difficulties in a safe and confidential place. Person centred approach offers the client opportunity to openly discuss their difficulties, deepen their understanding of themselves and their processes at their own pace. The client will use the time to find their own solutions for what is troubling them. Therapy is based on Rogers’s belief that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfil his or her own potential. Duration of work is directed by the client.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Sessions are weekly to treat anxiety, low mood, poor self-esteem, anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. Therapy will offer a safe and confidential place using a more directive approach with focus on behavioural and cognitive changes and challenges with aim to improve mental health, emotional regulation, and develop problem solving and coping skills. Duration of work is between 6 - 20 sessions. I am an Individual Member of the BABCP - and working toward accreditation. I am offering discounted sessions to clients who agree to audio recording (CBT only). Please enquire if you would like to know more.

Family Based Treatment (FBT): Sessions are weekly to treat anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Family-Based Treatment is a leading treatment for adolescent eating disorders. FBT is a 3 phased treatment that involves the whole family in solving their child’s eating disorder. Unlike traditional family therapy, it does not blame the family. Duration of therapy is between 20 - 60 sessions.
