I work from Tuesday to Thursday each week. I aim to meet five people each day, though it sometimes runs to six. My appointments start at 9.15/30 a.m. and my final appointment begins no later than 6.30 p.m. I am in my mid-70's so I take regular breaks from work, generally every 6 or 7 weeks. I am usually fully booked and if I cannot see you within a month, I will encourage you to shop around for another therapist.
About me and my therapy practice
An Irish greeting, a hundred thousand welcomes!
I specialise in EMDR and Somatic Experience (SE) therapy for workplace pressure, anxiety and trauma from accidents, assaults, or combat and AI-EMDR (Attachment-Informed) to help people recover from adverse and difficult childhood experiences. I particularly welcome first responders, police, armed services personnel and people affected by medical or birth trauma. I work with people from a wide range of backgrounds providing online time-limited and longer term counselling. I also provide The Safe and Sound Protocol online. This passive intervention using sound, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, may be helpful for people with early life trauma.
I use EMDR as a coaching tool to enhance a person's business performance and overcome blocks permanently. I am also using EMDR alongside CBT as a tool to help people manage chronic pain.
With my partner, I established Beechmount to provide stress management coaching and training to business owners or team members.
I welcome any opportunity to talk with you without any obligation. Counselling can be life-changing, and meeting the best person to help you achieve your goals matters a lot. If you are shopping around, I am always happy to help you explore your options.
The relationship that comes about between the two people through therapy is a major factor in the success or otherwise of counselling. Clients have expressed how easily they connect with me and I with them.
Practice description
If you choose to meet up with me, all our meetings will be online. It is important that you have a reasonably stable connection and a space with sufficient privacy to maintain confidentiality. Most people who work with me want to address difficult or traumatic experiences arising from events in childhood or adult life. I use EMDR therapy, combined with elements of Somatic Experience therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy to address these. Providing EMDR online is proving to be very successful for clients as I and other colleagues have discovered since the start of the pandemic. You may be surprised by how welcoming meeting someone online is.
My first session
I will normally send you some questionnaires and some guidelines on safe working online by means of preparation for our first meeting. Because I mostly use a web-based platform called Bilateral Base, you will need to have Google Chrome on a device and also have headphones or earbuds so that you can listen to bi-aural sounds. There is an App available for IOS users. I use Zoom or Whats App where Bilateral Base is not possible.
