About me and my therapy practice

I work with individuals over 16 who maybe feeling anxious, overwhelmed, guilty, frustrated, sad, or stuck. I offer support by listening, offering my thoughts and observations from what I have heard. This can help to see things from a different view point and make things feel clearer.

If you are feeling like something needs to change in life, I can support you. I can't offer advice, what I can offer is:-

A chance to explore choices;

What it might be like to choose them;

What it may feel like to choose them;

What might be getting in the way of a certain choice.

Life can throw many different challenges for us to make our way through. It can leave us feeling lost, anxious, stuck, guilty, frustrated, or sad. I understand that it may feel like you are not able to talk to those around you. This may be because you don't want to burden them, you may worry about how they might respond, or that you might upset them. Counselling gives space and time to process your feelings and focus on yourself.

One of the areas that I have a special interest, and extensive experience in is supporting parents and carers. I understand that holding a caring role can feel overwhelming especially as you are likely to be trying to balance it alongside other aspects of your life, such as work, family or looking after your own needs. It may feel lonely and isolating. The situation you are in may leave you feeling low, anxious or stuck.

I also support people who are finding it a challenge to look after their own needs. This may be due to anxiety, grief, stress or finding a change in life difficult to adapt to. I work with people to help them introduce a better balance into their lives and recognise their importance.

As we are all individuals we will all see and experience things in a different way. I believe it is important to have the opportunity to be heard. Please do get in contact to see how we can work together.

My face to face work is at a location in Shoreham-by-sea (BN43). It is close to the train station, a public car park or the bus service which runs along the A259.

How I work

I support you through listening, you can talk about what feels right for you and we can look at your experiences, thoughts and feelings together. I believe by working together we can work through what is important and reflect what is going on for you.

Sessions go at a pace that feels right for you, there is no obligation to say anything. There are no set amount of sessions that you need to have, we can work short-term or long-term.

How counselling can help

Counselling can help with feelings of overwhelm, loneliness and isolation. It can offer support through your experiences of anxiety, bereavement, feelings of being angry, guilty, scared, sad or low.

Counselling can help to support you through changes that happen or you want to happen in life by allowing an opportunity to notice feelings and thoughts that are coming up for you.

Qualifications and experience

I am a qualified Humanistic Counsellor who undertook my training at the University of Brighton. I hold a certificate in online and telephone counselling. I have completed an introductory course on counselling children and young people.

I continue to update my practice through attending seminars, courses, workshops, networking with other professionals, reading books, papers and outcomes of research.

My first session

The first session is a chance to talk about what brings you to counselling. We can together go through what you are looking for and it gives a chance to answer any questions that you might have about working with me. It allows an opportunity to have a bit of background which you feel comfortable sharing.

It is a great opportunity to see how it would be to share and work with me. This is important as I believe the therapeutic relationship is key within the work that we will do together. It is the first step to take towards building some trust between us.

We can go through and complete the paperwork bit too, this is not too much and I assist anyone who needs it. The focus thereafter is what you choose to talk about and explore.

Please do get in touch so we can book in a time, counsellingwithsarah0@gmail.com

About me and my therapy practice

Do you notice you feel overwhelmed ? Would you like to be able to say no and not feel guilty ? Are you around people but not able to let them know how you are feeling because you worry you will upset them ? Working online or face to face in West Sussex I support people to free themselves up from their worries, frustration and build up their confidence to be able to make choices for themselves.

I work with individuals over 16 who maybe feeling anxious, overwhelmed, guilty, frustrated, sad, or stuck. I offer support by listening, offering my thoughts and observations from what I have heard. This can help to see things from a different view point and make things feel clearer.
