About me and my therapy practice
Whether you have a very specific issue that you would like to explore, or a general sense of ill-being and things not feeling quite right. Therapy can be a place where you can bring what is both unique to you and your story, and also very human.
Many of us go through times when things just become too much to handle, and having an actual space to just sit with someone and explore that can provide some real relief, insight and most importantly space. These can be times when functioning can basically just feel like surviving, and actually we really want to be living. As we begin to give some of these painful feelings and thoughts a place where they are welcome and accepted, they can become a catalyst for change rather than just something that needs to be managed or got through at all costs.
As an integrative therapist, I draw on a variety of approaches depending on your unique needs in a safe and non-judgemental space. My experience has taught me that there is no one size fits all approach and so I value creativity and flexiblity.
Often we may not even know what the root causes are for why we feel the way we do. Sometimes the answers can be in the past or present, I have found that by being curious and open and exploring your inner and outer world we can begin to gain insight, understanding, acceptance and compassion.
I believe that no one knows you better than you and my role is to offer my knowledge and expertise in facilitating you to get a deeper understanding of what is going on. Ultimately with the goal of creating a more fulfilling, meaningful and satisfying life.
I have trained at the Minster Centre, a leading Integrative training institute in Europe. Their training is BACP and UKCP approved which means that I have been trained to follow BACP and UKCP ethical guidelines. I have a diploma in counselling and psychotherapy and set to complete my masters training this year. I have over fours years of experience working short and long term within bereavement and counselling services. My background is in education and I have spent a number of years living abroad. Sessions are usually held weekly on the same day and at the time.
My first session
In our first session we will spend time exploring what therapy can offer you by thinking about your aims and expectations. We can discuss what brought you to the session, your hopes, fears and worries and see if it feels like a good fit. Starting therapy is not an easy choice to make and you may feel really anxious about it which is completely understandable.
Reaching out can often be the hardest step to take; it may feel daunting, you may question whether things are that bad, if someone can help. However, it can also be a relief to just speak to someone and see.
You don’t need to struggle alone.
