About me and my therapy practice
My approach in life and as a Counsellor is to be absolutely person centred. Your journey will be as individual and unique as you are and although I will walk alongside you, you will light your own way, finding strength to make sense of the challenges you are experiencing.
I have the privilege of knowing and working alongside a richly diverse group of people and their families within social care and education for over 30 years who have given me opportunities to develop and practice an empathic connection and understanding of living with life limiting conditions, physical and learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism and dementia.
They have shown me how important it is to have a personalised approach to supporting someone which is why I offer flexible, bespoke counselling which could be through eco-therapy (being outside to walk & talk, or sit and talk amongst nature), or sessions via video call or phone. To ensure I am absolutely inclusive, there is also the option to work with you within your own home if you are facing restrictions due to illness, mobility or anxiety about leaving home.
Practice descriptionAs someone who has experienced profound loss and trauma myself 20 years ago, I know first hand how frightening and confusing it can be to reach out for professional help - especially when you are someone who usually copes with everything and is known for having broad shoulders! I also know that it’s vital that each person’s journey is led by them, as the expert in their life - not the therapist, which is why I am a passionate advocate and practitioner of Person Centred Therapeutic Counselling.
My first session
Choosing a therapist is a really personal decision and there is definitely not one size to fit all. It is also a big financial commitment and investment in yourself so I offer an initial 20 minute session for free to enable us to explore what has brought you to counselling and any questions you may have. It is also an opportunity to think about if we are a good match to work together or if there are other therapists/organisations who may be better suited to meet your needs.
