About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Rebecca. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor, offering one to one talking therapy, providing you with support and a listening ear when things get tough.

At the very core of my counselling practice is my belief that we all deserve to be who we are, without judgement.  Counselling offers a safe, confidential space within which you can openly explore the difficulties that you are facing. Talking it over can help.

My experience as a counsellor has offered me an opportunity to work with people facing a range of  life’s struggles: from feelings of depression & anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, physical and emotional trauma, work-related stress and relationship issues, through to the day to day issues that face the families and friends of those suffering long term mental and/or physical illnesses.

As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor, my role is to be alongside you during the counselling process, offering empathy, respect and encouragement.  There are times when you just need someone to hear you.  Allowing yourself to take that time to look after you can be a challenging and sometimes unfamiliar experience, and one that can ultimately lead to a greater sense of wellbeing and understanding.

Together, we can work find ways of enabling you to move forward in your life, with greater knowledge of yourself and tools to help you manage with difficult feelings.

Practice description

Currently, I am offering in person, online and telephone based sessions.

It can be helpful to have in initial chat on the phone which helps me understand more about your counselling needs and also offers a chance for you to ask any questions you might have. We can arrange a free initial chat of up to 15 minutes. Please contact me to arrange a convenient time to talk.

I understand that online working might feel unusual or impersonal and I am happy to talk through any concerns you might have about working this way.

I am affiliated with BUPA, Aviva and other organisations.

My first session

The initial counselling session will focus on understanding how counselling can best support the difficulties you are facing.

We will talk through your counselling needs and assess whether counselling is the right step for you and what other support might be needed.

This first session also offers an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the counselling process and a chance for you to decide whether I am the right counsellor to support you.

We will talk through the counselling agreement, covering confidentiality and agreeing on a way of working together going forward.

The counselling process is unique to each individual and so we will work session by session, enabling you to choose how many sessions are right for you.
