About me and my therapy practice
Life can be a challenge and there may come a time that you are no longer able to deal with your feelings and emotions on you own, that’s where therapy can help.
I strongly believe that every person is unique and therefore the focus of my practice is YOU. I want to know how life is for you, how you experience your feelings, thoughts, symptoms or diagnosis. You are more than words on a piece of paper. If you would like to talk to somebody in a warm, confidential, non-judgmental space, please give me a call.
Warwickshire Therapy is based in the heart of Leamington Spa, offering person centred counselling to individuals and couples over 18. This is your journey and as such I aim to facilitate your needs as much as possible. Endings in therapy are important and as such it is important to establish what you would like to achieve from therapy and work at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Individual therapy focuses on building a trusting relationship between therapist and client and is usually conducted weekly initially, moving to fortnightly when working towards and ending.
Couples therapy focuses on the relationship between the couple with the therapist very much on the outside. Homework is set after each session encouraging a re-connect with each other, because of the dynamics of couples work session may last longer and be fortnightly to begin with allowing the time before sessions to work on the relationship.
The therapy I offer for couples focuses on communication between the couple. Learning how to get both individual and couples needs met. I see couples who wish to learn to communicate better, couples following an affair, couples in conflict, couples who have decided to separate but wish to do so in a calm respectful manor. You don't need to wait until you are in crisis before seeking help.
My first session
During the first session for individual therapy clients can expect to go through the assessment form that they receive when booking the session.
Once the assessment has been completed, then the rest of the session is used by you the client to start your counselling journey. Exploring your thoughts, feelings, goals and common themes.
During the first session for couples therapy we discuss the assessments that you completed individually, finding common goals for the sessions for your relationship that include you as individuals as well as together as a couple.
Trying to understand where the other is coming from and learning to listen to each other.
