About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Paula

Is there something I could help you with?

It sounds as if you have tried various avenues for solving these issues you are dealing with; you may have involved friends, family, managed to make small changes. However, these larger ones need solving too.

Sometimes its hard to do by yourself. I can give you the space to explore often painful, uncomfortable and difficult feelings with confidence and without judgement. It is important to be heard, discover those unconscious things which can impact so on your present life. In short to be come aware of yourself to make the changes happen.

If this describes you then please feel free to make contact using the mode you feel most comfortable with; telephone, text, whatsapp, or email.

I offer face to face sessions, also telephone and whatsapp calls and where appropriate walk and talk. I do not offer online/email counselling

I have over 12 years’ experience in Counselling clients, 5 years Supervising other counsellors and student counsellors.

Practice description

I have a Degree in Counselling, a Foundation degree in Person-Centred Counselling. I am a qualified Mentor, I have worked in the NHS and within the Education sector. I feel I have a varied experience of the world and all it has to offer.

As a full member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I adhere to their policies and guidelines around training and supervision. I ensure I have adequate training and current feedback to keep me up to date and safe for you.

My experience includes bereavement, loss, miscarriage, redundancy, health anxiety, menopause, women’s health, relationships (but I am not a couples, group or family counsellor), Autism, ADHD, anxiety, anger, depression and suicide.

Recently my training has included ADHD particularly in women, inclusivity and equality in the counselling setting, menopausal health related issues and premenstrual related syndromes. Whilst I have knowledge of these issues, and personal experience, I am not an expert, but I am able to discuss, using counselling to aid us.

Although I am person-centred trained, I will use alternative methods to aid your progress through the counselling sessions should it be useful and safe for you; such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Mindfulness techniques amongst others. However, the most important starting point is our relationship and the building of trust and openness.

I am not a child counsellor, but will see young people from 16. I can and will see those with a physical disability, but unfortunately not at my office which is on the first floor. Hopefully we can come to an arrangement over a suitable meeting place.

About me and my therapy practice

I am person- centred trained with a back ground in health care and education. I can offer supervision to counsellors, supervisors and student counsellors, within a counselling, health care or educational setting.

I use Proctor's Model of supervision, a three part approach, restorative, informative and normative.

I have 12 years experience of counselling clients, 5 of those supervising other counsellors work.

Practice description

As a counsellor I work in a way that denotes a partnership with my client to find a way through an often difficult period in their life.

As a supervisor the way I work is similar in that we work together in partnership, you gaining the confidence and experience as we progress. Although it shouldn't be a difficult period in your life, rather a more fulfilling one, it can cause the same emotive level as that experienced when you receive therapy; this is very much appreciated by me in our work, without diminishing you.

Whilst I am person- centred trained, a good basis to work from, I have a wealth of further training and models to bring into our work together.

If you are a student counsellor I offer concessionary rates and also completion of reports at no extra cost.

My first session

Please feel free to get in touch as you prefer; phone, email or whatsapp. we can have a chat prior to meeting or make a short appointment to see how well we would work together.

On our first meeting I would like to find out how you work, your expectations of our sessions and what I can offer you. I hope this is what you would expect too.
