About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious? Burnt out? Or depressed? At a crossroads? Feeling like the grass is greener on the other side? Do you perhaps feel that your friends or family do not understand or accept you? Are you relying on shopping or food to pick you up? Or is it something else that is not quite right and it is bothering you?
And then, there is Covid-19. You might be anxious because of the current measures, feeling uneasy to go out. Your work might have changed dramatically since March 2020, and you might not have found your bearings yet. Or you might have been bereaved, and still coming to terms with the loss and grief.
These are some of the issues that clients bring to counselling and within the safety of four walls, and an online connection, talk about them, and try to understand these issues and themselves better. And that is the first step in the change process: becoming aware of what it is that is bugging us, uncomfortably sitting on our shoulders, or churning in our stomach.
I am a Qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and in my private practice Bedford Bridge Counselling I can help you to bridge the gap between who you are and who you could be. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work within the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for Counsellors’, and also the BACP Guidelines for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy. I started seeing clients in 2012 and have worked with clients across all age ranges, from 20, up to and beyond retirement, of varied ethnicities, genders, sexual orientation, cultural backgrounds. I am committed to offering a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner.
My first session
Please email or WhatsApp me to arrange a free 20min conversation and see if we are a good fit. From there, we would agree on time to start our work together. The first full session takes the form of an assessment where we discuss significant events in your life which have shaped you and are relevant to the reason you are seeking counselling. We also consider your expectations and what you hope to achieve on the counselling journey.
