About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I have worked as a therapist for many years with people who have come with a wide variety of different issues. Much of my experience concerns clients who have experienced trauma, bereavement and other losses, as well as other difficult life experiences. I aim to create a genuine, non-judgemental space which is uniquely responsive to you, in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings and find insights, healing and ways through.

It is rare to feel fully understood and accepted without judgement, and my aim in therapy is to foster  relationships which are unique and fully human, in which hopeful change is possible. I believe you are the best authority on your own life, and I shall value your autonomy throughout as an ethical principle.

I work with adults, and have worked with age ranging from 18 – 80s. I welcome clients of all backgrounds, sexualities and gender identifications. I do not undertake conversion therapy.

Please note at present I offer online sessions or telephone counselling.

Practice description

Working with a therapist can give you the chance to explore your thoughts and feelings from a new perspective. By doing so, it may be possible for you to find deeper understanding, acceptance and clarity, a greater trust in yourself, and physical and mental integration.

Being disconnected from your own needs and being misunderstood by others can lead to many difficulties, some of which might bring you to therapy: feelings of anxiety, dread, low self-esteem, anger, shame or estrangement from yourself, your body and the wider world.

My approach is built on person-centred philosophy, which respects, affirms and trusts the unique ways people live and survive. I believe it is possible, within a consistent, affirming and empathetic environment, to become more fully in tune with yourself and your body, to move closer towards developing your personal potential, and to feel that you are living a fuller, more enriched life.

My first session

Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is what makes the positive difference so it's important that you find the right person for you. Our first sessions gives us a change to figure out if we might be a good match. I'll ask you questions and you will have a chance to find out about me. There will be space and time in the session for you get in touch with what brought you to therapy, and we'll work at your pace.
