During the current Covid-19 pandemic I am working online and via telephone for those who feel this is the best route for them at the moment. I am also happy to offer face to face for members of the public who would still prefer to come to see me in person for therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a very warm and friendly person and a good listener. I have a very empathic understanding and vast experiences from my own personal life.

This has also shaped me to be the person I am today. Like many of you I have my own “battle scars” as I had to fight my own demons, build -up my self confidence and low self -esteem.

I have always wanted to train as a counsellor and to be able to offer a non-judgemental approach to the people that I work with.

To offer a therapeutic space for people to use and help them find out what is going on for them. Things from our past can shape who we are today. Things from our childhoods and certain traumas, can have us acting out on behaviours that can be damaging to us.

How Can I Help?

I can help you recognise these behaviours and what triggers them. I have worked with adolescents and adults of all disabilities. I have experience in working with bereavement/loss or relationships breakdowns. Deal with addiction in it’s many forms. Stress and anxiety, helping you worry less about things. Feelings of depression or sadness. Cope with redundancy or work -related stress. Feel more confident and work on low self-esteem, enabling a more positive look on life. Learn to live with life altering injury/illness. Understanding yourself and your problems better.

After counselling, you might feel you can be more yourself, more easily be with others and operate more constructively in your world. You may feel empowered to identify choices that you previously thought weren’t there. You may have gained new insight into yourself or made sense of something that previously felt impossible.

If you feel I can help you, then contact me and I’ll look forward to helping you understand your world and what’s going on for you. I’m here to listen.

Practice description

My practice is upstairs in my house and is lightly decorated. There is a two seater sofa and a chair. There are photos of my counselling  room on my website. My room is very warm and cosy, with two small lamps that crate a soft atmosphere on darker days.

Here I create a quiet space for you to explore where you need to go in your own time.  You are completely in control of your own sessions and you can go at your own pace.

My first session

on our first session I will answer any questions you may have and allow you to explain why you have come to counselling. I offer you a safe and non-judgemental space where you will be heard. Allowing you the time and space to go where you need to go and to take all the time you need. There is no rush.  At times this can be very emotional and painful. But looking at these issues will allow you to heal and accept what's going on for you. Allowing you to grow in confidence and self-esteem.

By attending every week until you come to a natural end, will give you the best results from counselling.  If you only want to work on a pacific issue, then you can have short term therapy for 6-8 weeks or a one off session.  we can talk about your requirements in your first session.

At the end of your session, I will ask you how you are feeling and if you would like to book another appointment.  There is no pressure to do so. If you agree to further sessions, I would then ask you to fill out a form with your contact details and to sign an agreement form.

Availability

I will not be available during any annual and bank holidays holidays.  During the times I am not available I will always arrange an appropriate supervisor to cover my absence should you require any  help and support with either your clients or yourself.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified person-centred clinical supervisor and follow the  BACP's Ethical framework and good code of practice.

I offer clinical supervision to qualified & trainee counsellors, and can work with a variety of therapeutic modalities. I work towards ensuring that we get a good balance of working with the counsellors own process as well as their client's to ensure counsellors are working in the best interest of their client's and keeping themselves "safe" at the same time.

I strive to give all my supervisee's a quality supervisory experience where they feel that they can open up and talk about their thoughts and feelings, in a non-judgemental and safe space.  This allows for supervisee's to grow in their own self development, as well as in their own therapeutic relationships with their clients, and in their own personal relationships with others.  As your clinical supervisor I will provide a safe space for you to talk about the challenges and difficulties you face in your counselling work with your clients. Ensuring that your client receives the best ethical practice from you, and that you too, remain emotionally safe.

For trainee counsellors, I will help complete the necessary reports for your course (fees may apply), and guide you the best I can to helping you along your learning journey.

Together we can discuss how your client's work impacts you, how you feel, and help to increase self- awareness and help keep your boundaries and  yourself safe.

If you are looking for a supervisor, please do contact me and we can discuss your needs and mutually decide if we would be a "good fit" to work together.

Practice description

I have a light and warm therapy room which is upstairs in my house. with-in this room there is a two seater sofa and a chair. As well as a filing cabinet in the corner, cupboard and a desk with a chair.  There are two small lamps that create a soft warm atmosphere in the room on darker days. This allows for a trusting and confidential  space to develop our relationship and find out if we are a good fit and if we can work together.

I am not far from the A1 and there is plenty of free parking available. I am also on a regular bus route, which runs via the town centre where there is also a main train station.

My first session

On your first session, I will contract with you and carryout an assessment of your needs and requirements and write these up for you to sign. Together we will look at your needs and what you would be requiring from having supervision with me. We will also discuss any requirements needed by your college/placement if you are a student.

I will look at your caseload, practice/placements, if you are a student. As well as looking  at your your training/ modality and home-life. This allows me to have a bigger picture of you and your surroundings which may impact on you as you work with  clients and your own personal processing and learning.

I will offer you 1-1.5 hours of supervision,  fortnightly or monthly depending on your caseloads. If you have a full caseload, you may need to increase these hours as you see necessary. Longer sessions can be arranged. A minimum requirement by BACP is 1.5 hours per calendar month regardless of the number of contracted clients. This can be a mix of one to one, peer, telephone and on-line, as all these count for accreditation. For group supervision: A group of four can claim 50% of the time together. For a group of five or more the time needs to be divided equally.
