About me and my therapy practice
I have the skills and experience to help you identify the positive changes possible to improve your emotional and psychological well-being to get your life back on track.
I will work with you to find out what is happening in your life that has prompted you to seek counselling. Through the process you will develop a better understanding of yourself, your problems and why they exist.
Background:
My early training, volunteering and experience was with bereavement and loss organisations and with survivors of physical, emotional, sexual abuse and domestic violence. I currently offer my time as a bereavement counsellor to the Stafford Bereavement and Loss Support Service (SDBLSS).
Before moving into private practice, I worked as a Therapist in a local Primary Care Service that received referrals from GP surgeries and the Community Mental Health Team for people struggling with mental health issues.
I am able to work competently with depression, anxiety, panic; physical, emotional and sexual abuse, low self esteem, low confidence, bereavement, loss, long term illness; work related stress; relationship difficulties.
I am also aware that certain people might benefit from a different approach to my own and I would always endeavour to point you in the appropriate direction for your needs if I cannot support you .
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile; you can also find more information about how I work from my website: www.carolinecounselling.co.uk.
Practice description
Central Stafford location
Oakridge Business Centre is situated off the north side of the A518 not far from Stafford Hospital and approximately three quarters of a mile from Stafford Town Centre.
A regular bus service also runs to Stafford Hospital from the town centre and stops on the main Weston Road close to the location. Junction 14 of the M6 is approximately two miles away.
Oakridge is an historic building with lots of character and is set in a quiet location at the end of a sweeping driveway behind secure gates.
When arriving at the gates, you can phone or text me upon arrival to allow you entry.
My first session
The first meeting is more about making you feel at ease and gathering relevant background information. I want to understand what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to gain from our time together.
I will be interested to know what you want to get out of coming to see me by enquiring as to your expectations or therapy goals.
It may be you just need someone to listen without judgement, or you might want to make some changes and not sure how to go about this.
I can answer any questions or allay any fears you may have about the therapy. It is crucial you feel comfortable enough with me to be able to share your personal story with me.
I am happy to offer an initial chat over the phone before you decide whether to go ahead.
When we do meet, you are not obliged to book an appointment after our first contact as I would not want you to feel pressured.
You will know if it felt right and will pick up the phone to re-book if this is something you feel would be beneficial to you.
