About me and my therapy practice
Being a student can be a hugely stressful experience. What should be an exciting and stimulating time can turn into a nightmare with excessive anxiety, depression, lack of motivation and social anxiety.
Some students are trying to study while recovering from trauma or an eating disorder, while others are coping with challenges like family breakdown, bereavement or physical health problems. Along with all the academic and social pressures, it's no wonder so many young people can feel so completely overwhelmed.
Focused and constructive counselling can help to clarify the issues, gain a more helpful perspective and decrease the sense of isolation. Developing tools and strategies that strengthen their inner resources, students can reduce stress and fear, improve their academic performance and increase their sense of personal power
I am passionate about student mental health and have a constructive and practical approach where we work together to make the changes you want to see. I have experience supporting students at school, college and university level and work with clients aged 12 and above. I also see adults from all walks of life.
My approach is integrative, combining various therapeutic models with my academic support experience. I may draw from techniques from cognitive, behavioural or mindfulness approaches, transactional analysis, focusing, compassion focused therapy and more.
Please check out my website for more information including a couple of videos. Don't hesitate to get in touch by email or phone for a chat about how I may be able to help.
