About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified Counsellor with a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. I have worked in the NHS for 38 years working as a state registered paramedic and latterly in the patient transport service. I have gained experience in charitable organizations learning skills in a variety of specialties such as general and mental health, drug and alcohol dependency. Bereavement. Solution focused therapy and NLP.
Counselling is a process in which regular discussions and sharing of thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential environment can help you to resolve your concerns in a way that is right for you. It can also help with all kinds of stress whether it stems from circumstances, from others or even from you. It can help you make decisions or changes, which enable you to lead your life more fully. I provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment for you to explore all aspects of yourself. The relationship is collaborative and my role is to facilitate, guide and assist your exploration and discovery. Whatever you are feeling or going through, counselling can provide a unique and committed relationship that offers an opportunity for you to explore your feelings, thoughts, needs, and to help you discover your own solution. Counselling can help you to come to terms with the past, understand the present, make changes, and improve your life. It recognizes the inherent abilities of each individual to reach their potential and to help you discover your way through life's difficult situations whatever they may be. I believe that Counselling makes it possible for you to look realistically at your hopes and dreams for the future and empower you as you look to build a better emotional and spiritual life.
Practice description
My private practice room is based at my home in Skelmersdale where it is quiet and relaxed and away from the main house. A full risk assessment has been carried out and in place in accordance with the government guidelines for COVD 19.
My first session
The Counselling sessions will take place in my home. When you contact me, we will make an appointment for a 30-minute assessment, which is free of charge, this can be face to face or telephone. The initial session is a counselling/assessment where some insight can be gained into what the reason is that you are coming for counselling at this time of your life. We will discuss the type of counselling appropriate to your needs. The initial assessment gives us an opportunity to explore your needs and for you to ask any questions regarding counselling or of myself. All subsequent counselling sessions are for 50 minutes
